Denver Pushes Lead After Day 3 of Summit League Champs

With the conclusion of third day of the 2017 Summit League Swimming and Diving Championships, the Denver men's and women's teams extended its lead in both team races. The women's team won all five of six events of the evening with the men's side taking home all five events. Five new all-time league records were set Friday night and IUPUI senior  diver Melissa Berger became the first Jaguar diver to sweep both boards in a single championship since 2009.

IUPUI remains second in the men's and women's team race, followed by South Dakota in third.

The Pioneer women's 400 medley relay squad began the night by smashing the event's record that they set in 2015 when they posted 3:33.85. In the morning preliminary session, Denver senior Kyle Robrock broke the Summit League Championship record in the 100 backstroke, but the record didn't last long. Robrock went on to beat his new record when he won the evening's final, (46.28).

Denver's Amanda Sanders earned her fourth Summit League title in the 100 breast after finishing with a time of 1:00.73 in the finals. Sanders broke her record from last season in prelims with a time of 1:00.40.

IUPUI picked up two all-league recognition in the men's and women's 400 medley relay (second). South Dakota State found its way onto the medal stand twice in the women's 100 breaststroke with Kristin Erf's second-place and with their third-place finish in the women's 400 medley relay.

The 2017 Summit League Swimming and Diving Championships will wrap up Saturday when team champions and individual awards are presented. Preliminary heats begin at 10 a.m. ET and finals starting at 6 p.m. at the IU Natatorium.
