UMBC Men, FGCU Women On Top After Day 2 of Coastal Collegiate Championships

The UMBC men's swimming and diving team is in first place with 550 points after the second day of the 2017 CCSA Swimming and Diving Championship in Gabrielson Natatorium on the campus of the University of Georgia.

Incarnate Word takes second place with 474 points, Florida Atlantic takes third place with 455 points, followed by Gardner-Webb with 442 points. Old Dominion is in fifth with 430 points, New Jersey Institute of Technology is in sixth with 269 points, Howard is in seventh with 152 points, and Virginia Military Institute sits at eighth with 132 points.

In the 500 free, Incarnate Word's Kyrylo Shvets took first place with a time of 4:22.69. Ilia Rattsev from UMBC finished in second with a time of 4:26.25, followed by teammate Alexander Gliese who finished third with a time of 4:27.11.

The 200 IM was a tight race but Nikola Trajkovic from UMBC took first with a time of 1:48.04. Hector Cruz Ruvalcaba from Incarnate Word finished second with a time of 1:49.18, closely trailed by UMBC's Connor Ganley who finished third with a time of 1:49.38. In the 50 Free, Gregor Spoerlein from UMBC took first with a mark of 20.28, followed by Old Dominion's Jacob Zeidler who came in second with a mark of 20.33. Connor Bos from Gardner-Webb finished third with a mark of 20.36.

In the 200 Free Relay, Old Dominion came in first with a time of 1:20.83, Gardner-Webb came in second with a time of 1:21.25, and UMBC finished third with a time of 1:21.40.

Florida Atlantic's Ryan McIntire claimed first place and broke the CCSA record in the 3-meter dive with a score of 414.55 points. Incarnate Word's Dawson Martinez finished second with a score of 408.00 points and Corey Moreno from Old Dominion tallied third place with 367.00 points.

The Florida Gulf Coast women's swimming and diving team is in first place with 557.5 points after the first day of the 2017 CCSA Swimming and Diving Championship in Gabrielsen Natatorium on the University of Georgia's campus.

Liberty is in second with 459.5 points, Georgia Southern is in third with 345.5 points, and Incarnate Word is in fourth with 306.5 points. Gardner-Webb sits in fifth place with 281 points, UNC Asheville is in sixth place with 223 points, and Campbell is in eighth with 222 points. Howard comes in at ninth place with 134 points while Virginia Military Institute finished the day in tenth place with 74 points.

In the 500 free, Liz Zeiger from Florida Gulf Coast tabbed first place in a time of 4:49.93. Liberty's Delia Weber took second in a time of 4:50.68, followed by teammate Alicia Finnigan swam a time of 4:51.85 for third place.

Florida Gulf Coast's Christina Kaas Elmgreen took first in the 200 IM with a time of 1:59.65. Prudence Rooker from Liberty took second with a mark of 2:01.03, while Florida Gulf Coast's Barbara Carballo took third with a mark of 2:01.12. Florida Gulf Coast swept the top three of the 50 free with Katie Latham who claimed first with a mark of 22.34, Fanny Teijonsalo finished second with a mark of 22.61, and Gracie Redding finished third with a mark of 22.66.

Florida Gulf Coast finished first in the 200 Free Relay with a mark of 1:28.77. The team was comprised of Katie Latham, Gracie Redding, Hannah Burdge, and Fanny Teijonsalo. With a mark of 1:31.17, Liberty who was comprised of Hannah Baker, Rachel Hoeve, Prudence Rooker, and Colleen Donlin, came in second place. Anna Moers, Rachel Pelzek, Athena Cimino, and Kaylyn Thomas from Georgia Southern came in third with a time of 1:33.68.
