St. Bonaventure, Saint Louis Men, Mass Women On Top After Day 1 of Atlantic 10 Champs

 St. Bonaventure and Saint Louis are leading the way for the men, while the Massachusetts women are atop the leaderboard after day one of the 2017 Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships at the SPIRE Institute.

St. Bonaventure and Saint Louis are currently in first place on the men's side with 66 points. Following them in the standings are La Salle (64), Massachusetts (60), Fordham (58), George Mason (50), George Washington (40) and Davidson (22).

George Washington finished first in the 200-yd medley relay in a time of 1:27.53, setting a new A-10 conference and championship record.

St. Bonaventure, the 2016 runner up, came in second behind George Washington in the 200-yd medley relay with a time of 1:29.12, earning 34 of its 66 team points. The Bonnies later turned in a time of 6:37.10 in the 800-yd freestyle relay, finishing third.

Saint Louis, which finished middle of the pack in 2016, took home first-place in the 800-yd freestyle relay in a time of 6:32.42, giving it 40 team points. The Billikens finished sixth in the 200-yd medley relay in 1:29.86.

Massachusetts leads the way for the women with 119 points. Following them in the standings are Richmond (77), Fordham (74), Duquesne (74), Davidson (72), Saint Louis (56), St. Bonaventure (53), George Mason (52), Rhode Island (45), La Salle (37) and George Washington (32).

The Minutewomen took fourth in the 200-yd medley relay just coming short of third place behind Davidson missing the wall by .32 seconds. Junior Emma Rouch garnered 20 team points with her performance on the 1 meter diving board finishing with 273.00 points, two points ahead of the next competitor. Massachusetts finished in sixth in the 800-yd freestyle relay with a time of 7:28.61.

Davidson won the 800-yd freestyle relay in a time of 7:18.31.Duquesne took first in the 200-yd medley relay with a final time of 1:41.23 out-touching the Spiders by .61 seconds.
