Williams Cruises to 16th Overall NESCAC Title

The Williams College women's swimming & diving team won its fourth consecutive NESCAC title - and 16th overall - at Greason Pool on the campus of Bowdoin College on Sunday evening. 

The Ephs finished with a three-day total of 1,856 points to defeat its closest competitor Amherst (1,367). Connecticut College finished third (1,268.5), Middlebury ended fourth (1,174) and Bates fifth (1,159.6). The host Polar Bears took sixth (994.5) followed by Wesleyan (751), Tufts (700.5), Hamilton (388), Colby (284) and Trinity (281).

Williams won every event in Sunday's final day of competition. Records fell in three events as Olivia Jackson set a new pool record in the 200-yard backstroke (1:58.44) while teammate Caroline White established a new pool mark in winning the 200 breaststroke (2:14.53). Ari Ross completed a sweep of the diving events by winning the 3-meter final in a pool-record total of 526.30 points.

Other wins for the Ephs included Megan Pierce opening the session with a win in the grueling 1650 freestyle (16:53.09), Emma Waddell taking the 100 freestyle (50.58) and Victoria Wolfe winning the 200 butterfly final (2:03.04).

Williams capped the night with a victory in the 400 freestyle relay in a pool-record time of 3:24.77 courtesy of Lauren Jones, Delaney Smith, Maddie Downs and Emma Waddell.

The NESCAC Men's Swimming & Diving Championship will get underway next Friday, February 17 at Wesleyan Natatorium on the campus of Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut.
