RedHawks Triumph Over Marshall, Bowling Green

Miami garnered a pair of victories against Marshall and Bowling Green today in Oxford.

OXFORD, Ohio – Miami University’s women’s swimming and diving team showed its strengths again, defeating Marshall and Mid-American Conference foe Bowling Green.

The Red & White beat the Thundering Herd by a score of 188-112. Miami lost to Bowling Green last year (151-149), but got the upper hand this season, winning 217-83.

The lady RedHawks started the day off with a win in the 400-yard medley relay. The team of Izzy Herb, Stephanie LeMire, Morgan Quesnel and Logan Klinsky clocked in first at 3:49.10.

The 200-yard freestyle was a 1-2-3 finish for Miami, with Ella Moynihan leading the way (1:51.91). Molly Zilch (1:53.50) and Logan Klinsky (1:53.94) finished second and third, respectively.

LeMire tallied up another win, swimming a time of 1:03.83 in the 100-yard breaststroke. Holly Schuster finished second in the event, touching the wall in 1:04.33. The 200-yard breaststroke was nearly identical, with LeMire winning (2:18.18) and Schuster close behind her in second (2:19.23).

Herb ended up in the winner’s circle again for the RedHawks. She did so in the 200-yard backstroke, clocking in with a time of 2:01.65. Herb and Brittany Dudzinski placed second and third in the 100-yard backstroke, respectively. Herb touched the wall in 56.18 and Dudzinski in 57.26.

Ella Moynihan won the 500-yard freestyle, clocking in at 4:58.89. She was also a part of the 200-yard freestyle relay team that finished second (1:36.46) with Klinsky, Katie Kuhl and Elise Campbell.

Emma Bradley and Shay Spelman finished in the top three in the 1650-yard freestyle. Bradley placed second with a time of 17:25.09. Spelman was only 0.13 seconds behind her in third place (17:25.24).

Klinsky and Elise Campbell took silver and bronze in the 100-yard freestyle, with Klinsky coming in at 51.87 and Campbell in 52.37. Campbell also placed second in the 50-yard freestyle (23.88).

Quesnel found herself in second place in the 200-yard butterfly, finishing in 2:06.35. Hannah Fuchs also had a second-place finish in the 400-yard IM (4:30.04).

For diving, the RedHawks went 1-2-3 in the one-meter dive. Pei Lin finished first (329.35), with Taylor LeCount in second (269.60) and Jenna Karrow in third (269.40). Lin also was victorious in the three-meter dive with a score of 383.20.

The Miami women will compete next week as their rival, Ohio University, comes to Oxford. The meet will take place on Saturday, Nov. 5 at 1 p.m.
