All Wisconsin Showcase Produces Swift Swimming at Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center

Milwaukee hosted the All-Wisconsin Showcase on Saturday in Brown Deer.

BROWN DEER, Wis. – The Milwaukee women's swimming & diving team won 13 of the 16 events on the day to show their dominance in the All Wisconsin Showcase Saturday at the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center.

"We love hosting this meet and getting to see all these great teams," Milwaukee head coach Kyle Clements said. "College swimming here in Wisconsin is in a good place with all these great athletes and coaches.

"As for our Panthers, today was a good day. We had a lot of good swims and a lot of season-best times, but there are still a lot of things that we can work on. With having so many events and swims, I still have not been able to really study and understand what all happened tonight, but one thing I know I saw tonight was progress."

Milwaukee got things going on the busy day right from the start. In the opening 200 medley relay, Sara Bentley, Jenn Kordik, Shelby Rozeboom and Mandie Siehs blew past the field with a winning time of 1:45.51 – a full five seconds ahead of the next fastest team.

The Panthers took the top four spots in the 200 breast. Natalie O'Connell led the way in 2:23.88. Adrienne DiFoggio was a close second in 2:26.08, while Maggie Burns was third and Jenn Kordik fourth.

UWM again swept the podium in the 50 free. Siehs topped the field with an impressive time of 23.80, with Rozeboom (24.31) and Arica Smith (24.37) right behind to take the top three spots.

In the 100 back, Bentley (57.21) and Maddie Nelson (58.19) went 1-2, with Kady Ruemmele and Alicia Beam close behind to give Milwaukee another four of the five top spots.

Bentley showed her versatility with another win, this time in the 100 fly in 58.15. Freshman Cecilia Ostergren was runner-up in 59.14. Bentley also claimed a win in the 200 back in 2:05.84.

Danielle Kudis won a pair of events on the day. The sophomore topped the field in the 200 free with a time of 1:54.09 before touching the wall first in the 500 free in 5:06.30. Addison Skogman was second in the 500 free in 5:12.21.

Adrienne DiFoggio also had two wins Saturday, winning the 100 breast in 1:06.69 and the 200 IM in 2:11.13.

Milwaukee also claimed wins in the 200 fly (Maggie Burns, 2:10.71), the 400 IM (Skogman, 4:35.48) and the 400 free relay (Rozeboom, Smith, Emma Helgeson and Siehs, 3:33.43).

The Panthers also had a strong showing on the diving board. Carley Thomas (259.10) came in second on the one meter, followed closely by Cassidy Pilo (256.40) in third. Thomas also led the way on three meter with a score of 263.85 for third.

Milwaukee has its first true home meets next weekend, welcoming Wheaton to campus on Friday before a conference showdown against Wright State Sunday at the Klotsche Natatorium.

Milwaukee set the tone early with wins in the first three events of the day.
 
It started with a W in the 200 medley relay. Patrick Kelley, Tim Greci, Anthony Kolbus and Nick Menninga just beat out the next closest team with a winning time of 1:35.18.
 
Jacob Fase then led three Panthers on the podium in the next event – the 200 free. The freshman topped the field in 1:44.17 – nearly two seconds ahead of the next finisher. Andrew Kasper then came in third in 1:46.20 and N. Menninga fourth in 1:46.49.
 
Kelley kept things rolling in the 200 IM. The freshman touched the wall in 1:56.58, nearly two full seconds ahead of the next swimmer. Kelley later swept the individual medley events with a victory in the 400 IM in 4:10.84.
 
Fase also won two events on the day, clocking in first in the 100 free in 47.71. The was the lead of a clean sweep for UWM with Sam Salganik taking the silver in 48.09 and Kolbus the bronze in 48.23.
 
Yev Foster claimed yet another win for the Black & Gold with a victory in the 100 fly at 51.75.
 
Other winners on the day for Milwaukee include N. Menninga (50 free, 21.21), Kasper (500 free, 4:49.02) and the Kasper, Bailey Bodart, Fase, N. Menninga (400 free relay, 3:09.30).
 
UWM also had an impressive showing in diving. Defending Horizon League Diver of the Week Dakota Skenandore finished runner-up on one meter with a score of 264.55, with Draven Feustel right behind at 247.15 for third. Skenandore also led the Panthers on three meter with a score of 237.95.
