Little Rock Tangles With Marshall, McKendree, Saint Louis

Little Rock battled Marshall, McKendree and Saint Louis this weekend in Saint Louis.

ST. LOUIS – With three event wins for the day, Little Rock swimming and diving earned two victories against McKendree and Saint Louis while taking its first dual-meet loss of the season to Marshall on Saturday morning at the Simon Recreation Center. The Trojans defeated the Bearcats 150-33 and beat the Bilikens for the second day in row with a score of 105-96. The Thundering Herd took a 132-72 win over the Trojans.
 
Courtney Coe earned the victory in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 58.59. Isabelle Finzen finished seventh, and Cassie Sanchez finished ninth.
 
Laura Ruiz Astorga won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 53.49. Saidya Kistow and Ann Kharlamova each finished in the top 10 at seventh and 10th.
 
Ginger Bryant earned her first collegiate win in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:08.50. Teammate Nuria Gallego Murcia finished just .30 of a second behind Bryant in second. Imre van Huyssteen and Jinson King also finished the in the top 10 with fourth- and eighth-place finishes.
 
Little Rock began the day with a third-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay as Savannah Fissenden, Gallego Murcia, Coe and Emma Doll came in with a time of 1:50.54.
 
Ruiz Astorga took third in the 50-yard freestyle as she came in with a time of 25.13. Doll, Kistow and Vasiliki Falaina finished fifth, ninth and 10th, respectively.
 
Kang placed third in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:13.94. van Huyssteen, Bryant and Fissenden claimed fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively.
 
The Trojans finished third in the 200-yard free relay as the squad of Coe, Courtney Goff, Ruiz Astorga and Doll came in with a time of 1:39.12.
 
Samantha Gray took fourth in the one-meter dive. The junior finished with a score of 192.00.
 
Rachel Maradyn finished fourth in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:18.62. Kang finished sixth, and Charis Won came in eighth.
 
The 100-yard backstroke saw Fissenden tie for fifth with a time of 1:01.63. Fryar and Goff each finished in the top 10 with a finishes of seventh and eighth.
 
In the first individual event of the day, Tori Fryat took sixth in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:58.48, and Kharlamova finished ninth.
