Frostburg State, Stevenson, Hood, Goucher Compete in Baltimore

Frostburg State, Stevenson, Hood and Goucher competed in Baltimore on Saturday.

BALTIMORE, Md. – The Frostburg State men's and women's swim teams combined to win nine events in a quad meet against Stevenson, Hood and Goucher, Saturday afternoon.

The women remain undefeated this season after winning against all three opponents today. FSU (4-0) beat Goucher, 141-64, Hood, 140-56 and Stevenson 104-101. The men move to 4-1 on the season after they defeated Goucher, 138-62 and Stevenson 137-51 but fell to Hood, 92-113.

The FSU women kicked the day off with a win in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of sophomore Emily Turner, sophomore Maddie Weinberger, freshman Elizabeth Myers and junior Macey Nitchie touched first in a time of 1:56.43.

Nitchie also won individual events in the 50-yard freestyle (25.21) and the 100-yard freestyle (54.95).

In the 100-yard breaststroke Weinberger took first place in a time of 1:10.15. She also touched first in the 200-yard IM (2:21.63).

Turner and freshman Becca Marsh finished in first and second, respectively in the 500-yard freestyle. Turner finished in 5:44.29 while Marsh turned in a time of 5:51.29.

For the men, junior Christian March finished first in the 100-yard butterfly (56.47) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.86). He also placed second in the 200-yard IM (2:07.01).

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of junior Darnell Hungerford, junior Deionn Yarberough, freshman Jacob Auerbach and sophomore Chase Manard touched first in 1:37.59.

Freshman Tyler Dianna, freshman Tharen Rice, senior Alek Combs and freshman Matt Whelan turned in a second-place performance in the 200-medley relay in a time of 1:54.08.

Next, the Bobcats will travel to Mary Washington for their Capital Athletic Conference season-opener Friday, September 28 at 6:00 PM.
