NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Westminster College men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams opened their 2016-17 season as hosts of the Westminster Relays on Friday.
 
The Titan women’s team finished second with 100 points, while the Titan men’s team placed third with 94 points.
 
Edinboro won for the women’s with a 124, while Gannon won for the men’s with a 116.
 
Titan first-year Kaitlyn Fast (Wooster, OH / Wooster) won the 1-meter dive with a school-record 352.80 points. She also won the 3-meter dive (197.60).     
 
The Titan quartet of junior Mitch Stahara (Bethel Park, PA / Bethel Park), freshman Aaron Dunlany (Boardman, OH / Boardman), sophomore David Peffer (Ellwood City, PA / Riverside), and freshman Matt Kwalick (Sewickley, PA / Quaker Valley) won the 800 freestyle with a time of 7:21.95 for the men’s team.
 
Senior Mikayla Morrow (Columbiana, OH / Homeschool), sophomore Patricia Loughney (Buckhannon, WV / Buckhannon Upshur), and Abby Jones (Cabot, PA / Knoch) earned the highest finish for the Titan women’s team in the 3x100 breaststroke for second place (3:35.71).
 
Westminster is back in action Saturday, October 29 for a dual meet at home against Penn State Behrend at 1 p.m.

The Gannon men's swim and dive team kicked off its 2016-17 season at the Westminster Relays with five victories.
Allan Collins (East Amherst, N.Y./Canisius) was involved in three Golden Knight victories.
Michael Weiser (Manassas, Va./Osbourn Park), Matt Loughner (Jeannette, Pa./Penn-Trafford) and Allan Collins (East Amherst, N.Y./Canisius) were on two winning relays.
