St. Peters Finally Hires

Saint Peter's University Director of Athletics Belinda "Boe" Pearman has announced the hiring of Mark Kretzer as the head swimming and diving coach.

 

"I am excited to have Mark Kretzer join Saint Peter's as the head swimming and diving coach," said Pearman. "Mark has a very impressive background training and working with NCAA champions and Olympic Trial qualifiers. His own success as an elite swimmer and his experience working with elite swimmers will help our program compete with the best teams in the MAAC."

 

Kretzer has served as the Team Suffolk Swim Club Elite/Jr. Elite Team Coach and the Half Hollow Hills Central School District Aquatics Director since 2010 and Aquatic All-Stars LLC Owner and Head Coach since 2009. He also most recently held the position of Head Girls Varsity Swimming Coach at Northport High School in Northport, NY. With Team Suffolk, he coached two 2016 Olympic Trial Qualifiers and numerous national championship qualifiers. As the Boy's Varsity Coach at Half Hollow Hills, he led the team to a New York State Team Championship in 2016. From 2010-2014 Kretzer coached the current Jamaican national record holder in five events.

 

Post College, Kretzer spent three years working and training with Olympic and NCAA champions at Imagine Swimming, and the New York Athletic Club.

 

Kretzer is a 2006 graduate of Bucknell University where he was a two-time Patriot League Conference Champion in the 200 fly and 100 backstroke. He was the class of 2006 Patriot League high point scorer as well. Kretzer also held the Suffolk County high school record in the 100 backstroke and was a five-time New York State Finalist.
