VMI spilit a tri-meet with NJIT and Saint Peter's this weekend.

NEWARK, N.J. - Brady Gannon, John Kim and Bret Tomajczyk all claimed individual event wins as the VMI men's swimming and diving team split a tri-meet at NJIT on Saturday afternoon. The Keydets (3-1) defeated Saint Peter's 128-73, but suffered a 109-94 loss to the host NJIT Highlanders.
Gannon claimed a victory in the 50 free, as he touched the wall in 22.53 seconds. He also finished third in the 100 (50.56) and anchored the runner-up 200 free relay, which also included Jake Boulter, Ryan Schmitz and JT Lancaster, to a 1:30.82 time.
Tomajczyk, meanwhile, prevailed in the 100 breast in 1:04.26, two spots ahead of Josh Strelow's 1:04.90. After winning the 100-meter backstroke last week, Kim won the 100-yard version of the discipline Saturday in 53.15. He has now won events two straight weeks after not previously doing so since January of 2014.
Other results included a solid day for freshman Jarred Nagle, who was second in the 200 IM (2:03.36) and 100 fly (54.89). Michael Morrison finished one spot behind Nagle in the 200 IM, touching the wall in 2:06.89.
Kim, Nagle and Tomajczyk joined Niko Nemceff on the runner-up 400 medley relay effort, which completed the distance in 3:41.18.
VMI men's swimming and diving will return to action Nov. 9, when the Keydets face Ferrum in a dual at Sweet Briar College.
