Westminster Tops Chatham

Westminster topped Chatham on Saturday in Pittsburgh.

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Westminster College women’s swimming & diving team won 162-123 at Chatham University in a Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) dual meet on Saturday.
 
Westminster (3-2, 1-1 PAC) won seven events, not including a relay in which the Titans used exhibition swimmers.
 
Titan senior Anne Tillie (Fallston, MD / Fallston) and first-year Abby Jones (Cabot, PA / Knoch) each won two individual events. Tillie placed first in the 200 freestyle (2:03.32) and the 200 backstroke (2:21.53), while Jones touched first in the 100 breaststroke (1:13.13) and the 400 IM (4:57.87).
 
The 200 medley relay team, consisting of junior Cassidy Kovacicek (Washington, PA / Trinity), senior Mikayla Morrow (Columbiana, OH / Homeschool), junior Megan Douds (Bethel Park, PA / Bethel Park), and sophomore Carolyn Novak (Pittsburgh, PA / Upper St. Clair), won with a time of 1:59.97.
 
First-year Alyssa Hampton (Anchorage, AK / AJ Dimond) (100 backstroke/1:06.52) and first-year Maggie Manolis (Jeannette, PA / Jeannette) (200 breaststroke/2:37.22) also picked up individual victories.
 
The Titan men’s team swam in all exhibition events.
 
Westminster is back in the pool when it competes in the three-day Wooster Invitational, starting on Thursday, December 1 at 7 p.m.
