Watch: Katie Ledecky Break NCAA Record in 1000-Yard Free (Race Video)

Today, Katie Ledecky smashed the NCAA record in the women's 1000-yard freestyle during a Stanford dual meet against Texas.  

Ledecky took a hammer to Leah Smith's NCAA record of 9:20.15 in the women's 1000-yard free today with a 9:10.49.

Smith set the previous NCAA record in the 1000-yard free and 1650-yard freestyle at the 2016 ACC Championships.

Smith first went out in 9:20.15 to break the 1000-yard freestyle NCAA record of 9:23.78 set by Brittany MacLean for Georgia at the 2014 NCAA Championships.
