Miami Routs Ohio in Oxford

Miami of Ohio routed Ohio on Saturday in Oxford.

OXFORD, Ohio – Miami University women’s swimming and diving team was victorious again, routing Ohio, 192-108 on Saturday afternoon in the Corwin Nixon Aquatic Center, where they are undefeated.

The RedHawks started off the day with a win in the 400-yard medley relay, where the team of Izzy Herb, Stephanie LeMire, Morgan Quesnel and Logan Klinsky swam a time of 3:48.02.

Hannah Fuchs picked up her first collegiate win in the 200-yard IM, where she clocked in with a time of 2:05.76. Holly Schuster was right behind her in second with a time of 2:06.54. Fuchs also placed third (2:20.85) in the 1-2-3 200-yard breaststroke finish for the RedHawks. LeMire won the event (2:17.86) and Schuster came in second (2:18.63).

LeMire placed first in a 1-2-3 finish for the RedHawks in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.67). Schuster was second in the event (1:04.25) and Ana Maria Castellanos was third (1:05.76).

Ella Moynihan was her typical self for the Red & White, leading a clean sweep of the 1000-yard freestyle by herself (10:06.56), Emma Bradley (10:14.58) and Julia Campbell (10:22.09). Moynihan took first in the 500-yard freestyle as well, clocking in at 4:56.54. Claire Doerr came in third, with a time of 5:05.73.

Izzy Herb found herself in the winner’s lane yet again, winning the 200-yard backstroke in 2:01.13. Carolyn Jungers placed third in the event (2:04.76). Herb placed second in the 100-yard backstroke (56.05), only trailing Brittany Dudzinski, who won the event in 55.98.

Quesnel picked up a pair of second-place finishes in the 100-yard butterfly (56.28) and 200-yard butterfly (2:04.68). Elise Campbell also had two races in which she finished second. The first was the 50-yard freestyle, where she clocked in at 23.92. The other event was the 100-yard freestyle, in which she touched the wall in 52.06. Klinsky placed third in the event (52.57).

Molly Zilch and Abby Stone picked up second- and third-place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle, respectively. Zilch clocked in at 1:52.65 and Stone in 1:54.02.

As for diving, Pei Lin was victorious in the one-meter dive with a score of 338.62. Jenna Karrow placed third in the event, scoring 260.47 points. In the three-meter dive, Lin came out on top, scoring 299.24 points. Taylor LeCount took third in the event with 266.40 points.

The lady RedHawks started off the meet in the same way they started, with a relay win. Elise Campbell, Klinsky, Peyton Mosbaugh and Moynihan won it this time, with a time of 3:30.97.

The men and women will be back together again next Saturday, as they travel to Columbus to take on Ohio State at noon.
