After a two-year hiatus, CollegeSwimming is soliciting nominations for the 2016 Assistant Coach-of-the-Year Awards. The program recognizes the unsung heroes of college swimming - assistant coaches. The deadline for nominations is Monday, May 31 at at 11:59 pm CDT. This year's selections will be made by a panel of past winners, retired head coaches, CollegeSwimming staff and this year - Online Voting By The Public.
Awards will be made in two categories - Established and Rising - in order to reflect assistants at different stages of their careers.
- “Established Assistant” – Recognizes coaches who have built an established career as an assistant coach. Nominees need a minimum of five seasons with their present team to be eligible. These nominees would generally not be considered on a career track towards becoming a head coach, but this is not a requirement.
- “Rising Assistant” – This award would be open to all assistant coaches regardless of tenure. The goal of this award would be to recognize those “rising stars” in our career with the hopes that such an award would further his or her career.
