Stanford took the lead after the second day of competition at the Men's Pac-12 Swimming Championships, held at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way, Wash. The Cardinal were on the podium in each of the four events, including a win in the 50 freestyle.
500 Freestyle
After earning runner-up finishes in the event for the last two years, junior Reed Malone finally claimed his own Pac-12 title, posting the second-best time in the country on the year at 4:11.80.
For the fourth-straight year and fifth time in the last six years, USC has won the 500 freestyle crown.
Stanford claimed the other two podium spots with sophomore Liam Egan earning a runner-up finish with a time of 4:13.80 and senior Danny Thomson taking third place at 4:14.61.
200 Individual Medley
California freshman Andrew Seliskar, who was on the winning 200 individual medley relay team Wednesday night, claimed the individual crown on Thursday with a time of 1:43.26.
Seliskar snapped Stanford's five-year winning streak in the event.
Stanford senior Gray Umbach, the 2016 Pac-12 Men's Swimming Scholar-Athlete of the Year, earned a runner-up finish with a time of 1:43.41. Stanford freshman Abrahm DeVine clocked a time of 1:43.51 and finished in third place overall.
50 Freestyle
Stanford sophomore Sam Perry won the 50 freestyle crown with a time of 19.30, the Cardinal's first title in the event since 2007.
Perry put a halt to Arizona's two-year winning streak in the event in upset fashion as Wildcat junior Renny Richmond entered the final with fastest preliminary time (19.51).
California sophomore Justin Lynch's time of 19.41 was good for second place overall while Arizona freshman Chatham Dobbs finished third with a time of 19.57.
200 Freestyle Relay
Arizona claimed its second relay title after winning the 200 medley relay on Wednesday night by earning a first-place finish in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:17.41. The Wildcats' relay team consisted of Richmond, Dobbs, freshman Chad Idensohn and sophomore JP Beach.
That is the first time in program history that Arizona has won the Conference title in the 200 freestyle relay.
California's time of 1:17.89 was good for second place overall while Stanford finished in third place at 1:18.14.

Competition resumes on Friday at 11 a.m. PT with the preliminary rounds of the 400 individual medley, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke and 100 backstroke. The finals session for those events plus the 400 medley relay (timed final) will begin at 6 p.m. PT.
