Tampa's Augier To Swim for St. Lucia in Rio

Recent University of Tampa graduate and former member of the men's swim team Jordan Augier has qualified for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to begin in August.  This marks the first time in school history that a Spartan swimmer has qualified for the Olympic games.

Augier will represent his home country of St. Lucia in the approaching summer games.  The Gros-Islet, St. Lucia native will compete in the 50 freestyle and is awaiting qualification for other events.

The 2016 graduate has already left his mark on the Tampa swim program, winning National Championships in two events during his senior campaign.  This past season, Augier combined with his Spartan teammates to win the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:17.27 before taking his second relay championship title in the 400 freestyle relay with a combined time of 2:54.07 alongside his UT teammates.

The National Championship events gave the Economics major his second CSCAA All-American honor in his four years with program.

The 2016 Olympic Summer Games begin August 5 and will conclude on August 21.
