Georgia Southern Leads Gardner-Webb, SCAD

Georgia Southern Swimming & Diving built a pair of big leads on Friday night to open a three-way meet between Georgia Southern, SCAD and Gardner-Webb. Prior to the match, Georgia Southern honored its six seniors who competed at the RAC for the final time. Mykala Arnold was the standout performer on Friday with a pair of event wins in the 100 Back and 200 IM including a pool record in the backstroke.

Head Coach Nate Kellogg
"We did very well coming off a high training load and getting back in the swing of classes this week. The team’s goal was to send the seniors off with a great meet and we did that be swimming very well."

Diving Coach David Giambra
“Emma had a solid senior meet. She put together a pair of solid lists with some really good starts to her dives. We will work on the finishes going down the road, but she looks strong headed into championship season.”

The meet concludes on Saturday starting at 11 a.m. with the final meets of the three-way meet between the Eagles, Bees and Bulldogs. The Chatham County Aquatic Center will play host to the second day of the meet.

The Eagles visit Davidson next weekend for a two-day four-way meet against the Wildcats, Gardner-Webb and Liberty. The meet starts on Friday, Jan. 22 at 6 p.m.

The 2015-16 Georgia Southern Swimming & Diving season culminates at the CCSA Championships on Feb. 17-20 in Athens, Ga.
