USMMA Women Top Hunter College

The USMMA women’s swimming & diving team hosted non-conference opponent Hunter College at the O’Hara Hall Pool on Tuesday night and triumphed over the Hawks by the final score of 132-9.
 
Junior Jolyn Green (Riverside, Calif.) led the way with three victories on the night, touching first individually in the 200 individually medley (2:21.10) and the 100 breast (1:12.59), while also being a part of the 200 medley relay team that began the night with a win in 1:58.10.
 
Six other Mariners recorded two wins each. Individually, sophomore Liz Grove (Winchester, Va.) and junior Blythe Fentress (Shady Shores, Texas) won two events apiece, Grove touching first in the 200 free (2:08.44) and the 100 back (1:04.86) and Fentress winning both the one-meter dive competitions with scores of 186.38 and 155.25.
 
Senior Elizabeth Rose (Hamilton, Ohio) and freshman Tyler Wickesberg (Albuquerque, N.M.) both were a part of the 200 free relay team (along with Green) that won the first race of the night. Wickesberg also came out victorious in the 50 free with a time of 25.43, while Rose was a member of the 200 medley relay squad that ended the night with a win in 1:52.39.
 
Joining Rose on the 200 MR team was junior Catherine Don (Quincy, Ill.) and freshman Ella Sherrill (Ketchikan, Alaska). Don also took first in the 500 free in 5:57.67, while Sherrill won the 1,000 free in 12:08.91.
 
Also picking up a victory on the night was freshman Pamela Grod (Northbrook, Ill.), who was a member of the 200 medley relay squad.
 
Up next, the Mariners will square off against St. Joseph’s College of Long Island at home this Saturday, Jan. 9. The first race is slated for a 1 p.m. start at the O’Hara Hall Pool.
