West Chester Rolling at PSAC's

Day two of the PSAC Swimming Championships saw perennial power West Chester expand upon leads on both the men’s and the women’s sides.

The WCU women won three of the five events on Friday night, including Tess Hayward claiming her second top finish on the championships. Hayward won the 200 free one after claiming victory in the 1000 free. She was second place in the event in 2015.

Dani Barron took third in the 200 free for WCU after finishing second in the 1000 free on Thursday night.

Hayward was also a member of the winning 200 free relay team for the Golden Rams. Hayward took the top prize along with Morgan Haney, Emily Stang, and Sydney Wareham.

West Chester freshman Emelie Johansson won the 400 IM in 4:28.93.

In the 100 fly, Erin Fife touched the wall first and earned 20 points for Shippensburg. She was fifth in the event last year.

The Bloomsburg 400 medley relay team of Alex Wheatley, Nikki Young, Caroline Hodgins, and Ashley Dix took first in the final event of the night. Wheatley, Young, and Dix were all on the 400 medley relay team that took first place last year.

For the men, the night started with a new PSAC record in the 200 free relay, as Bloomsburg finished in 1:20.43.

The record-setting team for the Huskies was made up of Sam Feiser, Ryan Paisley, Eric Usbeck, and A.J. Brady.

Feiser also set a PSAC record in the 100 fly, winning in 48.57.

Just like the women, the WCU men won three events on the night.

After finishing second in the 400 IM last year, Michael Oliver won the event this year in 3:55.01.

For the second consecutive night, Victor Polyakov took first place, this time winning the 200 free. With a time of 1:37.61, Polyakov was just a few hundredths of a second off of his conference record time.

The Golden Rams claimed victory in the 400 medley relay, setting a PSAC record time of 3:16.06. They beat their own record time for last year’s PSAC Championship.

Polyakov swam the first leg, followed by Oliver, Luke Maguire, and Evan Sherkness.

Competition continues Saturday with the 500 freestyle, 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke, 200 butterfly, and 800 freestyle relay on the docket.
