Bentley Sweeps Norwich

Bentley took home a pair of wins against Norwich on Saturday.

NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Senior Greg Coleman (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Sachem North HS ) dove for two first-place finishes and swam for another as Bentley University improved to 6-0 with a 178-118 win over previously unbeaten Norwich University in men’s college swimming at the Goodyear Pool Saturday afternoon.

Coleman captured both one-meter diving events, amassing a combined score of 435.25. He also finished first in the 50 yard butterfly, winning by three-tenths of a second in 24.54 seconds.

Bentley’s only other multiple individual winner was freshman Jarod Yoshihara (Irvine, Calif./ University HS), who was the first to wall in both the 100 fly (55.24) and the 100 backstroke (55.02).

The Falcons swept the freestyle events with freshman Alper Alkaya (Milan, Itay) taking the 50 (22.68), sophomore Ryan McGeary (Paramus , N.J./Bergen Catholic HS) the 100 (48.73), senior Davis Wilson (Ransom Canyon, Texas/Lubbock HS) the 200 (1:50.53), senior Liam Bartlett (Syracuse, N.Y./ William Nottingham HS) the 500 (5:14.69) and sophomore Frank Elenio (Ridgefield, N.J./Bergen County Academies) the 1650 (17:21.68).

The other individual winners for Bentley were senior Matt Ahlmeyer (Morris Plains, N.J./Morristown HS) in the 50 back (26.74), freshman Sam Trozenski (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon HS) in the 100 breaststroke (1:03.68) and senior Dennis Witol (Bowie, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt HS) in the 100 individual medley (57.68).

McGeary and junior Aidan Karam (Norwich, Conn./Norwich Free Academy) were members of both winning relays for the Falcons. The 200 medley relay finished in 1:4150 and the 200 free relay posted a time of 1:29.41.

Bentley completed the 2016 portion of its schedule at 6-0 while handing Norwich Its first loss of the season.      

Following a break for exams and holidays, Bentley will make its 2017 debut Jan. 11 at Pace University.

NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Senior Kaitlin McGahie (Boylston, Mass./Tahanto Regional HS) and sophomore Kate Kaduboski (Dedham, Mass./Dedham HS) each won two individual events and were members of Bentley University’s winning 400 yard medley relay team, helping the Falcons post a 164-108 win over Norwich University in women’s college swimming at the Goodyear Pool Saturday afternoon.

The two teamed with sophomores Melissa Viator (Lubbock, Texas/Lubbock HS) and Jennifer Seuling (Floral Park, N.Y./Floral Park Memorial HS) as Bentley opened the meet by capturing the 400 medley in 1:58.92, the first of 13 first-place finishes for the Falcons.

Kaduboski also recorded wins in the 200 freestyle (2:00.44) and the 100 breaststroke (1:13.58). McGahie’s individual first-place finishes came in the 100 butterfly (1:02.73) and the 500 free (5:24.74).

Also winning twice for Bentley were junior Emily Niemiec (Meriden, Conn./Fra ncis T. Maloney HS) and freshman Caroline Logozzo (Wethersfield, Conn./Wethersfield HS). Niemiec posted winning times of 56.24 in the 100 free and 28.69 in the 50 fly while Logozzo swept the two one-meter diving events, with a combined score of 366.25.

Rounding out the list of winners for Bentley were sophomore Brooke Jameson (Bedford, Mass./ Bedford HS) in the 1650 free (19:19.82), junior Anne Warren (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron HS) in the 50 back,  sophomore Madison Damphousse (Marshfield, Mass./Marshfield HS) in the 50 breaststroke and Viator in the 50 free (26.78).

Bentley competed the fall semester portion of its schedule with a 5-1 record. After a break for exams and the holidays, the Falcons will return to action Jan. 11 at Pace University.
