USMMA Takes Out Sarah Lawrence, Purchase

USMMA closed out a successful weekend with another run of wins against Sarah Lawrence and Purchase.

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. (Dec. 10, 2016) – The USMMA men’s and women’s swimming teams both earned Skyline Conference victories over Sarah Lawrence College and Purchase College on Saturday up at Sarah Lawrence. The men defeated SLC, 119-58, and Purchase, 119-42, while the women beat the host Gryphons, 104-90, and the Panthers, 130-60.
 
On the men’s side, the Mariners won every single event. Freshman Nolan Monahan (Stafford, Va.) led Merchant Marine with two individual victories in the 50 freestyle (22.45) and the 100 breaststroke (1:02.00). Classmate Zachary Hermosillo-Deboer (Belleville, Mich.) earned his first collegiate win in the 100 free with his season-best time of 52.29.
 
For the women, freshman Erica Lou (Flushing, N.Y.) touched first a team-best two individual events – the 200 individual medley (2:20.94) and the 100 butterfly (1:03.52).

Up next, the men’s swimming & diving team will travel to Villanova on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017, for a matchup against the Division I Wildcats. The women are next in action the following week, Tuesday, Jan. 10, when they host Skyline opponents Mount St. Vincent and St. Joseph’s (Brooklyn) – the men will also be taking on St. Joe’s during that meet as well.
