Boise State claimed a high profile win against a Pac 12 opponent with a triumph against Utah.

BOISE, Idaho – Boise State swimming and diving put together a strong performance Saturday, winning 11 of 16 events and defeating Utah, 174-126, in a dual meet at the Boise West YMCA. The victory runs the Broncos' home winning streak to 22-straight dual meets.
Senior Brittany Aoyama paced the Broncos with four victories, sweeping the 50 and 100 frees along with a win in her signature event, the 100 fly, and being part of the 400 free relay. The win in the day’s final event, the 400 free relay, gave Aoyama her 100th-career win as a Bronco, third all-time
“Where we were strong, we obviously performed well. I was actually pretty happy with some of the events where we may have even gotten third and fourth, like the breaststroke events and the IM, the girls did a much better job of racing those events and working on a few things,” said Boise State head coach Jeremy Kipp.
Sophomore Ally Kleinsorgen had three wins of her own, sweeping the 100 and 200 backs in addition to being part of the Bronco 200 medley relay that led the meet off with a victory. Felicity Cann was victorious in the 200 and 500 frees, Emma Chard pocketed a win in the 1,000 free and diver Kacee Olson topped the field on 1-meter.
Kleinsorgen led off a 200 medley relay that also consisted of Robin Pinger, Katelyn Martin and Abbey Sorensen, with Sorensen closing the win as the quartet clocked a time of 1:43.36.
Chard then paced a 1-2-3 sweep in the 1,000 free for the Broncos, finishing in 10:18.97 followed by Amelia Draney (10:27.19) and Ally Schultz (10:33.36), to pick up 16 big points. Cann’s win in the 200 free in 1:50.81 and Kleinsorgen’s victorious time of 56.27 in the 100 back ran Boise State’s meet-opening streak to four victories before Utah pulled back a pair of wins in the 100 breast and 200 fly.
Stina Colleou touchd first in 1:03.70 to capture the 100 breast, with Pinger (1:05.68) and Emily Mathis (1:06.11) to top Broncos in third and fourth, respectively. Jordan Anderson delivered a win for the Utes in 2:04.58 in the 200 fly, with Mandy Barnes taking third in 2:06.80 as the top Bronco finisher.
Aoyama’s wins in the 50 free (23.07) and 100 free (50.47) sandwiched a 3-meter competition in which Boise State captured places 2-5 behind Utah’s Lauren Hall (274.58). Senior Karli Kriewall and sophomore Cassidy Bose tied for second with matching scores of 257.10, Olson was fourth at 253.13 and Taylor Hosein fifth at 249.15.
Kleinsorgen clocked a 2:02.88 to win the 200 back, with Sorensen (2:04.53) taking third and senior Emily Tanasse (2:07.56) fourth. Utah would pick up its third win of the meet in the next event, the 200 breast, as Colleou clocked a 2:17.01 to notch her second win.
The Broncos swept the final four events, with Cann (4:58.57), Chard (4:58.71) and Draney (5:02.32) taking the top three spots in the 500 free, and Aoyama (53.64) and Katelyn Martin (55.89) going 1-2 in the 100 fly. Olson led a top-four sweep on 1-meter, topping the field with a score of 262.58 followed by Kriewall (260.18), Kiley Carlson (233.18) and Jordan Marthens (230.63).
The teams split the final two events, as Utah’s Brianna Francis touched in 2:05.90, ahead of Pinger’s time of 2:08.58. The Bronco quartet of Aoyama, Martin, Chard and Cann would finish the meet with a win in the 400 free relay in 3:24.57.
“I don’t think any coach has ever been happy with where a team is at, but I think [this performance] gives us measurable things to work on,” Kipp said. “It’s one thing to say we have to get better, but it gives us something like turns and starts in which we need to get better.”

Boise, ID. - Utah women’s swimming and diving captured five events today but came up short against Boise State, 174-126.
Stina Colleou took first in both the 100 breast (1:03.70) and the 200 breast (2:17.01), Jordan Anderson was first in the 200 fly touching in at 2:04.58 and Brianna Francis was first in the 200 IM (2:05.90).
On the boards, Lauren Hall took first in the three-meter event tallying a total score of 274.58. She took fifth in the one-meter event (225.83).
Dorien Butter was second in the 200 free touching in at 1:54.01 and Sarah Lott was the runner-up in the 100 back (56.29). Lott also took second in the 100 free (51.26).
Other second-place finishes for the Utes were put up by McKenna Gassaway in the 100 breast (1:05.55), Isabella Kearns in the 200 fly (2:05.31), Gillian St. John in the 50 free (23.54) and Mallori Allen in the 200 back (2:03.60).
In the 100 fly, Darby Wayner finished third with a time of 56.19 and Kearns followed in fourth (58.15).
In relay action, the team of Megan Kawaguchi, Mariah Gassaway, Wayner and St. John took second in the 200 medley relay touching in at 1:43.84. Lott, McKenna Gassaway, Jenna Marsh and Butter followed in third (1:44.28).
Butter, Lott, Marsh and St.John teamed together to take second in the 400 free relay coming away with a time of 3:26.14.
The Utes will take a break from competition until the new year. They will host Harvard on Jan. 3 (diving only) and Jan. 7. They also will welcome Denver on Jan. 7.
