Yellow Jacket Invitational Held in Virginia

The Randolph-Macon Yellow Jacket Invitational kicked off today in Virginia.

CHESTERFIELD, Va. – Franklin & Marshall men's swimming took to the pool at Randolph-Macon's Yellow Jacket Invitational on Friday, taking sixth place after day one with 93.5 points. Washington & Lee holds the lead heading into day two with 228.

Eric Lang posted the highest Diplomat finish of the day on Friday, touching the wall in 1:58.57 to take third in the 200-yard IM. He was followed by Jonathon Sinton, who took 12th with a mark of 2:01.38.

Richard Perry led the charge in the 500-yard freestyle, finishing in sixth place after posting a time of 4:51.06. Next in for F&M was Reeves Connolly, whose time of 4:59.61 was good for 19th.

Keith Kamons paced the Diplomats in the 50-yard freestyle, taking 13th out of 59 competitors with a time of 22.26. Timothy Gould took 19th in 22.45, while Matthew Murphy (22nd, 22.53) and Daniel Sanders (28th, 22.70) also finished in the top half.

A solid relay effort closed out the evening in the 400-yard medley relay. Cody Kalinowski joined Gould, Lang, and Kamons for a time of 3:39.16, taking seventh in the process.

The Diplomats close out action at the Yellow Jacket Invitational tomorrow, with sessions scheduled for 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

CHESTERFIELD, Va. – Franklin & Marshall women's swimming returned to the pool on Friday for day one of the Yellow Jacket Invitational, hosted by Randolph-Macon. After the first session of competition the Diplomats held fourth place out of 10 teams with 119 points, while leaders Washington & Lee collected 310. 

Grace Pereles turned in a strong performance in the 500-yard freestyle, clocking the second-fastest time of the day at 5:09.28. She was followed by Caroline Fry in 13th (5:21.50) and Rebecca McCain in 17th (5:26.15).

Melissa Mullin led a deep team effort in the 200-yard IM, finishing sixth with a mark of 2:14.61. Right behind her was Anna Hess in seventh at 2:15.01, with teammates Michelle Wall (12th) and Jane Posner (20th) next to touch the wall for F&M.

Erin Fago led the Diplomats in a massive field for the 50-yard freestyle, taking 18th out of 80 with a time of 25.59. Samantha Hershey, Colleen Lawlor, and Katherine Hirsch all finished in the top half for F&M.

The Diplomats wrapped up day one by claiming third place in the 400-yard medley relay. Hess, Mullin, Pereles, and Hirsch teamed up for a time of 4:02.62 to take bronze. Hershey, Wall, Lawlor, and Fago also performed well, earning 11th place in 4:14.60.

F&M returns to the pool tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. for the second session of the Yellow Jacket Invitational, with the third and final session scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
