The Loyola University Maryland swimming and diving team will host nine home meets this season, including two invitationals and seven dual meets, as it prepares for the 2017 Patriot League Championships at Bucknell University in February.
The first three weeks of the season will feature dual meets against Patriot League foes. Loyola will host American in the season opener on Friday, Oct. 7, followed by Colgate on Saturday, Oct. 15 and Lafayette on Saturday, Oct. 22.
Drexel and Johns Hopkins will then visit Mangione Pool on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 28-29 for the annual Thomas Murphy Invitational, an event named in memory of former head swim coach and assistant athletic director at Loyola, Thomas Murphy.
Lehigh (Saturday, Nov. 5), Virginia Military Institute (Wednesday, Nov. 16) and Howard (Saturday, Nov. 19) will travel to Loyola for dual meets throughout November, before the Greyhounds host the annual H2Ounds Invitational. Former Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference rivals Marist, Iona and St. Peter’s will return to Baltimore for the event on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 2-3.
The New Year will open with the Greyhounds making their lone regular-season road trip to Bucknell on Friday, Jan. 13, before they host Mount St. Mary’s for Senior Day and the regular-season finale on Saturday, Feb. 4.
The 2017 Patriot League Championships will take place Wednesday through Sunday, Feb. 15-19 at Bucknell’s Kinney Natatorium.
The 2017 ECAC Championships are set for the following weekend, Friday through Sunday, Feb. 24-26, at Pittsburgh.
In addition to the regular-season schedule, the Greyhounds will host their annual Green vs. Grey intrasquad scrimmage on Saturday, Oct. 1, and the Alumni Meet on Saturday, Oct. 8.
All home swimming and diving events take place at Mangione Pool at Loyola’s Fitness and Aquatics Center and are free of charge.
