Arkansas-Little Rock Unveils 2016-17 Schedule

Little Rock swimming and diving head coach Amy Burgess released the team's 2016-17 schedule on Thursday, a schedule that includes two meets at the Donaghey Aquatic Center.

This season's schedule will be a doozy for the Trojans as they'll face teams from the Big Ten, Big 12, Conference USA, The Summit League and the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA).

"This season we are stepping out of our comfort zone and going against some top-notch competition," Burgess said. "We're looking forward to swimming against teams from major conferences and raising the level of competition. Stepping up our schedule will help better prepare us for our Missouri Valley Conference competition and championship."

The Trojans' first meet of the season will see Little Rock in the North Texas Relays in Lewisville, Texas, for the second consecutive year on Sept. 30. There, the Trojans will faceoff with North Texas, Houston and SMU.

Little Rock will then take part in the Missouri State Invitational against Illinois State, Northern Iowa, Southern Illinois, Rice, Houston and host Missouri State in Springfield, Mo., on Oct. 8. The field will consist of five Missouri Valley Conference schools and two non-conference members with Rice and Houston.

The Trojans will return home a week later for their first home meet of the season against Incarnate Word, North Texas, Henderson State and Delta State in the Little Rock Invitational on Oct. 15.

A week after, Little Rock will head to St. Louis, Mo., to face the Saint Louis Billikens and the Western Illinois Leathernecks in their first dual meets of the season on Oct. 21 and 22.

Two weeks later, the Trojans return to the Donaghey Aquatic Center for their final home meet of the season as they face conference-foe Evansville on Nov. 5.

On Nov. 18-20, Little Rock will take part in the Kansas Classic in Topeka, Kan., as they face Iowa State, Kansas, Nebraska, Northern Arizona and Missouri Valley foe Northern Iowa for the second time.

The team will go on its annual winter training trip to compete in the Citrus Classic on Dec. 30-Jan. 7 in Mesa, Ariz.

Little Rock will then face defending Missouri Valley Conference champion Southern Illinois on the road in Carbondale, Ill., on Jan. 14 before concluding the regular season at Ouachita Baptist on Jan. 21.

Three weeks after ending the regular season, Little Rock will get in the pool at the Missouri Valley Conference Championships taking place on the campus of the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa, on Feb. 15-18.

Little Rock will go through the juggernaut of a schedule with a roster of 25, the largest in program history.

"Our bigger, younger team is coming in full of excitement, and we are looking to turn a few heads throughout the year," Burgess added.
