Miami (OH) Adds Ward

Miami University men’s swimming and diving added another incoming member to the team after Nick Ward signed a National Letter of Intent to swim for the RedHawks, head coach Peter Lindsay announced Tuesday morning.

Ward comes to Miami from Columbus, Ohio. He currently swims for the New Albany Aquatic Club and is wrapping up his senior year at Saint Charles High School. Ward’s main events are the 50-yard freestyle (20.41), 100-yard freestyle (45.65) and 200-yard freestyle (1:42.65). Ward had a successful stint at the Ohio High School Division I State Championships where he anchored the 200-yard medley relay to a second-place finish. In the same meet, he helped the 200-yard freestyle relay collect third. Individually, he took fourth in the 50-yard freestyle and fifth in the 100-yard freestyle. Ward plans to pursue a degree in engineering.

Ward joins an incoming class that includes Justin Andrews (Warson Woods, Mo./St. Louis University), Chris Kearney (Deerfield, Ill./Loyola Academy), Jacob Peloquin (Lebanon, Ohio/Moeller) and Nick Wukovits (Mt. Pleasant, S.C./Wando), who inked National Letters of Intent during the November signing period.
