Washington & Jefferson Sweep Alderson Broaddus, Frostburg State

In the first meet of the season the Washington & Jefferson men's and women's swim teams both finished with victories in a nonconference tri-meet against Alderson Broaddus and Frostburg State, giving them both a 2-0 start to the season.

Top Finishers: Jenny Matuszewski came in first in the 1000 yard freestyle (11:47.06), 100 yard butterfly and was also apart of the winning 200 yard freestyle relay team (1:45.16) with help from Rachel Nye, Laura Travers and Madison Babicka. The women's 200 medley relay team consisting of Alexis Glenn, Rachel Murphy, Nye and Babicka also had a victory with a time of 1:56.71.

The Rest: Other individual winners on the women's side included Babicka who timed at 25.99 in the 50 freestyle, Murphy who took first in 200 IM (2:21.25), Nye with a time of 57.15 in 100 freestyle, and Glenn with a 1:02.92 finish in the 100 backstroke.
For the men, Nicholas Willison came away with first place in the 200 IM, timing at 2:03.79, Zachary Lauer notched a victory in the 100 backstroke (56.82), while Jack King won the 500 freestyle at 5:11.28. The men's 200 freestyle relay made up of Austin Ables, Matt Noel, Gordy Schroeder and Willison also placed first (1:32.25). The Presidents were the lone competitors in diving for the meet.

Washington & Jefferson will begin conference play when they take on Chatham at home on Nov. 4, 2015 at 6:00 pm.
