Wagner Sweeps Iona, St. Francis, Sacred Heart

The Wagner women's swimming & diving team cruised past Iona, Sacred Heart and St. Francis College during this afternoon's quad meet.
 
Wagner defeated St. Francis College 179-46, Sacred Heart 159-71, and Iona College 147-87 to win the entire quad-meet.
 
The Wagner diving program stole the show taking first and second place in both 1-meter diving and 3-meter diving. Senior Erica Curry (Fountain Valley, CA/Fountain Valley) picked up her first two wins of the 2015-16 season while breaking the Wagner school record in both of the diving events. Curry tallied 238.85 points on the 1-meter while also securing first on the 3-meter with 245.40 points. Sophomore Sam Lavrich (Audubon, PA/Methacton) took second place in both events, earning 208.35 points on the 1-meter and 208.35 again, but on the 3-meter.
 
 
The Wagner women's 400 Medly Relay, consisting of senior's Michelle Detka (Buckeye, AZ/Verrado), Katja Claesson (Fullerton, CA/Troy), sophomore Anu Nihipali (Honolulu, HI/Hawaii Preparatory Academy) and senior Corinne Rondina (Staten Island, NY/Notre Dame Academy), started out the quad-meet with a first-place finish in the first event, posting a time of 4:01.79.
 
The Seahawks won 10 events of the meet today.
 
Senior Amanda Lucia (Easthampton, MA/Easthampton) swept her individual events, for the second week in a row. Lucia took first in the 1000 free with a time of 10:49.52 and also in the 200 butterfly, touching the wall at 2:09.97.
 
Fellow captain and senior Maggie Shaw (Chantilly, VA/Chantilly) won the 200 IM with a time of 2:14.52. Shaw also took second place in the 1000 free, right behind Lucia, recording a time of 10:53.99.
 
Sophomore Maddie McNichol (Downingtown, PA/Henderson) took first in the 200 free (1:57.11). Nihipali earned first place in the 50 free (24.65), while fellow sophomore Leahi Camacho (Kailua Kona, HI/Kealakene) placed first in the 500 free (5:17.43) and senior Erin Malone (Sewell, NJ/Washington Township) touched the wall first in the 200 backstroke (2:09.63).
 
The Wagner women's swimming & diving team will return to the pool at 11:00 a.m. when it travels to Saint Francis University on November 14.
