Western Kentucky Beats Marshall

Seven pool records highlighted the final meet of the season for the whole WKU women’s swimming and diving team, as the Lady Toppers tabbed a 180-108 win over Marshall on Saturday.
 
The 200 medley relay opened the record-setting day, as Nadine Laemmler, Whitney Spain, Susan Marquess and Michelle Craddock set the new standard at 1:44.86. The team closed the day the same way in the 200 free relay, edging out the Thundering Herd in 1:35.93 for the new record, set by the tandem of Laemmler, Logan Graumann, Craddock and Celia Ouellette.
 
Claire Conlon posted a new record in the 100 breast at 1:03.27 and the 200 breast at 2:16.85. In the 200 back, Laemmler lowered the pool time to 2:00.32 in the 200 back while Hannah Musser tallied a pool record with 55.11 in the 100 fly and Marquess in the 200 fly at 2:01.89.
 
Along with those wins, WKU had six other individual wins, totaling 11 in the 14 individual events. Ashley Forsyth took the 1000 free (10:15.30) while Craddock won the 500 free (4:59.41). In the other free events, Musser won the 200 free (1:52.55) with Sydney King and Graumman tying for the win in the 100 free (53.27). Haley Black tallied the win in the 100 back at 57.45.
 
In the diving evaluations, Savannah Neddo won the one meter with a score of 239.48. The WKU divers will be back in action in one week when they compete on the platform at Tennessee on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 10 a.m. CT.
