Loras Wraps Up Action at Liberal Arts Championships

The fourth and final day did not have as many fireworks and broken records as the previous two, but Loras was still rewarded with great results on Saturday. Four more school records fell on Saturday as seniors Clare Ehlbeck and Mary Kathryn Maher, junior Zach Benson, and sophomore Ike Casey all posted top times in their events.

Staring down her own record, Maher swam the 200 Back in 2:11.54, besting her mark from a year ago of 2:12.56. For Maher, who swam in her last event as a Duhawk, she'll leave as one of the more decorated swimmers in Loras history with her name on the record board multiple times.

Benson had the 200 Breast record in sight heading into the final day and with a time of 2:10.91, broke Mike Genovase's record from 2000. That mark was the oldest record still standing in Loras history. Heading now into his senior year, Benson has rewritten three school records in his time with Loras.

Casey capped off an incredible weekend at the Liberal Arts Championships with another record to call his own. It came by less than a second, but Casey's time of 46.05 clipped Drew Sodey's 2006 record in the 100 Free. Casey now owns both the 50 Free and 100 Free school records.

In the prelims for the 200 Breast, Ehlbeck clipped Mackenzie Murray's 2009 record of 2:30.22 with her time of 2:30.03. Unfortunately for Ehlbeck, she was unable to replicate the same success in the finals, swimming a time of 2:30.73 and finishing in seventh place.Lora
