Southern Connecticut State Takes Second, Fourth at Metropolitan Champs

The Southern Connecticut State University women's swimming and diving team scored 815 points to place fourth out of 20 teams at the Metropolitan Conference Championships.  The three-day meet was held at Rutgers University.

There were many high finishes for the Owls.

Courtney Silva (Burnsville, Minn.) finished sixth in the 200 yard butterfly, finishing with a time of 2:09.96.

The 400 yard freestyle relay team of Katherine Krajcik (Stratford, Conn.), Christine Katrenya (Oxford, Conn.), Elizabeth Hess (Iowa City, Iowa) and Rachel Smolensky (Norwalk, Conn.) placed eighth (3:45.54).

At the Metropolitan Conference Championships, Southern Connecticut State University's Jessica Renzo (Westfield, Mass.) was selected as the Diver of the Meet and Coach Jesse Cyr won women's diving Coach of the Meet.  The junior won both the three-meter and one-meter (434.80 points) diving competitions.  Laura Richard (Seymour, Conn.) placed third on the one-meter (381.40 points) and three-meter (455.95 points) boards.
