The Denison University men's team leads the 2014 North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC) Swimming & Diving Championships with 180 points following Wednesday evening's men's three-meter diving competition at the Trumbull Aquatics Center on the campus of Denison University. Oberlin sits in second with 65 points, followed by Kenyon (44), Wittenberg (40) and Wooster (18), while Allegheny, DePauw, Hiram, Ohio Wesleyan and Wabash have yet to score.
Denison junior Connor Dignan (Phoenix, AZ/Desert Vista) captured the title on the three-meter board with an NCAC and NCAA Division III-record score of 645.70. Dignan, who is the fourth Big Red men's diver in a row to capture the NCAC title on the three-meter board, has qualified to compete in the NCAA Div. III Regional Diving competition with his record-setting performance.
DU student-athletes also swept places two through five in the final standings with NCAA regional qualifying scores. Sophomore Ben Lewis (Oak Park, IL/Oak Park-River Forest) was second with 538.25 points, freshman Max Levy (Sammamish, WA/Skyline) was third with 528.45 points, freshman Brian Allen (Flagstaff, AZ/Flagstaff) was fourth with 489.70 points and sophomore Nathan Lightman (Libertyville, IL/Vernon Hills) was fifth with 431.80 points.
In addition, Denison senior Matt Poulos (Munster, IN/Munster) also posted an NCAA regional qualifying score in sixth-place with a score of 429.255.
The 2014 NCAC Swimming & Diving Championships continue through Saturday evening. Preliminary events start at 10:00 a.m. both days, while finals begin at 6:30 p.m.
