Garland Bartlett

Head Coach

Garland Bartlett will be returning for her third season working with all aspects of the Eagles' swimming and diving program, but has particular expertise and experience in the distance freestyle events. "We are very pleased that Garland has joined our staff," said Davin. "She brings a wealth of successful on-deck experience from the universities she has previously coached, and she has already made a strong impact with our swimmers and divers. "Her professionalism will extend in all areas of our program and we are looking forward to this season and beyond with her expertise being a major driver of all we accomplish." She comes to American from Middlebury College, where the team finished the season with four qualifiers to the NCAA Division III national championships. Prior to that, she spent two seasons as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Trinity College and one season as an assistant at The College of New Jersey. "I am incredibly excited to join the American men's and women's swimming coaching staff and to work with Coach Davin and the other coaches," said Bartlett. "I'm looking forward to being part of a strong team in the Patriot League and to contribute to the future success of the program." She was an accomplished distance freestyler as a student-athlete at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa. Bartlett earned four silver medals, two bronze medals and a number of top-8 finishes at the Centennial Conference Championships. She still ranks among Franklin & Marshall's all-time top-10 in the 500-yard freestyle, the 1,000 free and the 1,650 free. Bartlett graduated from Franklin & Marshall in 2012 with a bachelors degree in American Studies. She also earned a masters in American Studies at Trinity in 2015.
