Redshirted ... competed at the USA Swimming 2010 summer nationals where he finished 30th in the 400-meter freestyle (3:58.29) and 37th in the 800-meter freestyle (15:49.17).

Freshman year

Finished 12th in the 1,500-meter freestyle at the 2009 U.S. Open (15:40.46) ... also took 14th in the 400 free (3:55.42) ... competed at the Big Ten Championships in the 500 free (49th- 4:31.08), 200 free (54th- 1:41.69) and the 1,650 free (22nd- 15:28.80) ... his time in the 200 free was a career best ... took fifth in the 500 free at the Hoosierland Invitational ... seventh in the 500 free on back-to-back weekends against Michigan/Tennessee and Missouri/Ohio State ... also took third in the 1,000 free against Michigan and Tennessee ... won the 1,650 free against Missouri and Ohio State ... also 10th in the 1,650 free in a dual with Michigan and Texas.
