General Description
The CollegeSwimming.com STARS Team recognizes collegiate swimmers and teams that give back to their community. Nominees can do so by donating their time or money a charitable organization, service group or other community service involvement. Candidates have to display sincere concern and reliability, while also having made a favorable impression on the organizations with which they are involved.

Award Criteria

  • Team Award: Teams must complete a minimum of a) four hours of community service OR b) raise a minimum of $75.00 per eligible athlete listed on the team roster with a minimum of 32 hours or $600.00 raised.
  • Individual: Individuals must complete a minimum of a) twenty hours of volunteer community service to OR b) raise a minimum of $2000.00 for a non-profit or local community organization. Individuals cannot benefit financially from the service, nor is court-ordered service.
  • Service / contributions must benefit a non-profit or local community organization. Nominating teams cannot be beneficiary of the service or contributions though other campus organizations may be. (i.e. Swim-a-Thon’s to raise funds for a training trip are not eligible).
  • Individuals and teams are limited to one award each academic year. Teams and individuals engaging in multiple service opportunities should list them collectively.
  • Service / contributions must be verifiable by beneficiary.

Application Process
Teams should complete the Award Application available at CollegeSwimming.com. To maximize recognition for individual, awards will be made on a rolling basis as applications are received with a final deadline of June 1. A final listing of teams will be announced following the June deadline. All applications will be subject to verification by CollegeSwimming.com.

Supporting Materials
Nominators are encouraged to submit supporting materials, including photographs, video or beneficiary comments of their involvement. These materials will be used to promote the program and the team’s good works.
