UNLV Swept by Wyoming, Nevada

In their final home meet of the season, and last meet before their individual conference championships, both the UNLV men and women's swimming and diving teams fell in their match-ups. The women dropped a 222-78 contest to Wyoming, and by a score of 213-87 to Nevada, Reno. On the men's side the Rebels finished the day with 119 points compared to Wyoming's 174. 

Freshman Pasha Semochkin started the momentum for the men's team with a win in the 100 back (49.55). Later in the day he was third in the 200 back (1:51.84) and second in the 100 fly (49.79). Avi Cohen followed not long after with a win in the 200 fly (1:48.67) and then placed third int the 100 fly (49.79). Dillion Virva continued his domination in the 50 free and won  with a 19.89. He also placed in the 100 fly with a 50.03. Kasey Foley continued the flow of success with a first in the 100 free (45.17) and a third-place showing in the 50 free (20.77). The realy team of Kasey Foley, Caio Dini, Samuel Lameynardie, and Virva finished the day with a win in the 400 free relay. 

On the women's side, Michelle Troup was among the stronger performers, ending up second in the 200 free (1:50.01) and the 100 free (50.89). Julia Fehervari also barely missed first in the 50 free, posting a time of 23.65 
 
Interim head coach Bobby Folan was proud of how the seniors swam in their last home meet, "Dillon Virva and Michelle Troup led the way for the swimmers, capping off outstanding careers at UNLV". 

The divers showed that they're more than ready for the next month's conference championships. Lucas James dominated the boards with a win on both the 1 meter and 3 meter. James set a new personal best and school record on the 1 meter with a score of 333.40. Mykalla Fielding placed second to Wyoming and fourth to UNR on the 3 meter (264.15), while also setting her own personal best. Alyssa Arnett was no different placing second to Wyoming and fifth to UNR in the 3 meter (254.75). 

"The divers are right were they need to be heading to conferences," said diving coach Derek Starks. "We've solidified their dives and they'll be training to compete at next week's Air Force Invitational and then the conference championships." 

While the UNLV divers will next compete in the Air Force Invitational on Feb. 5, the next action for the full squad will be the upcoming league meets. The women will be attending the Mountain West Championships on February 17-20, while the men will swim in the WAC Championships on Feb. 24-28.
