Pitts Sweeps Diving Against Carnegie Mellon, Clarion

Dominic Giordano and Meme Sharp led the way for the Pitt diving teams on Friday afternoon, claiming a pair of victories on the 1M and 3M boards from Trees Pool.
 
Squaring off against Clarion and Carnegie Mellon, the Panthers swept the competition, earning 13 total top-five individual finishes.
 
The women started the afternoon on the 1M board as Sharp posted a total score of 316.90 to pace the group. The Panthers went one-two-three on their first event, as Samantha Winkelmann earned second with a score of 279.550 and Rachel Saunders placed third with a total of 273.50.
 
Freshman Cheyanne Neuenschwander placed fifth for the Panthers with a score of 234.50.
 
Sharp again paced the competition on the 3M board, earning the top spot with a score of 335.50. Winkelmann earned silver once again with a score of 298.60.
 
Saunders captured fourth with a total of 264.40, while Neuenschwander placed fifth with a mark of 262.30.
 
On the men’s side, the Panthers kicked off the meet on the 3M board, as Giordano sailed past he competition earning a score of 405.95. He was followed by teammate Tony Galante who took second with a score of 318.05.
 
Nathan Crikelair (195.15) and Julian Zedeker (181.05) earned sixth and seventh, respectively on the 3M board.
 
Giordano continued his success on the 1M as he captured his second title of the afternoon with a score of 360.75. Galante again placed second with a score of 302.70.
 
Crikelair earned fifth with a score of 242.50, while Zedeker captured eighth with a score of 171.65.
 
The men’s and women’s swim teams will return to Trees Pool tomorrow as they host California (Pa.), Carnegie Mellon, Clarion and Duquesne in the Senior Day meet, set to begin at 11 a.m.
