Saint Francis Tops Siena 166.5-121.5

Saint Francis earned its second-straight road win on Saturday with a 166.5-121.5 victory at Siena. The Red Flash took first place in 12 events, including both relays. SFU improved to 7-7 on the season.

The Red Flash set the tone for the meet, taking first and third place in the 200-yard Medley Relay. Sophomore Katie Lafferty (Bremen, Ind./Bremen), junior Paige McLean (Bolton, Ontario/St. Michael Catholic Secondary), junior Jessie Reilly (Pittsburgh, Pa. /Upper St. Clair) and senior Catherine Rogers (Nokesville, Va./Seton School) combined to finish first, with a time of 1:49.09. The team of senior Sara Dieterich (Ronkonkoma, N.Y./Connetquot), sophomores Mary Kish (Glendale, Ariz./Bourgade Catholic), Natalie Tedjasukmana (Anaheim, Calif./Mater Dei) and Alicia Tiberino (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) earned a time of 1:54.34 to finish third.

SFU closed out the meet by again claiming the first and third spots in the 400-yard Freestyle Relay. Sophomore Emma Karell (Norrtlje, Sweden/Tby Swim Club), Lafferty, Reilly and Rogers teamed up for a pace of 3:39.88 to lead the field. Freshman Amanda Crnic (Conway, Ark./Conway) joined Kish, Tedjasukmana and Tiberino for a third place finish, with a time of 3:46.65.

Karell earned three Top Two finishes on the day. The Sweden native won the 1000-yard Freestyle with a time of 10:43.17. She also held the top time in the 100-yard Butterfly at 1:00.36. Karell also placed second in the 100-yard Freestyle, with a pace of 55.00.

Fellow sophomore, Lafferty, won two events. Lafferty won the 200-yard Freestyle, 1:54.90. Later in the meet, she claimed the top spot in the 500-yard Freestyle, with a time of 5:09.51.

Freshman Fallon Nelson (Mount Pleasant, Pa./Mount Pleasant) joined Karell in the Top Two of the 1000-yard Freestyle, with a pace of 10:58.92, to place second. Nelson also placed second to Lafferty in the 500-yard Freestyle, with a finish of 5:22.11.

Reilly also claimed two first place finishes. The junior won the 50-yard Freestyle, with a time of 24.88. She then posted the top time in the 100-yard Freestyle at 54.57. Tiberino joined Reilly in the Top Three of the 50-yard Freestyle, with a time of 25.56.

The Red Flash took the top three spots in both the 100-yard Butterfly and 200-yard IM. In the 100-yard Butterfly, following Karell at the top spot, were Tiberino (1:00.80) and Tedjasukmana (1:01.11). In the 200-yard IM, freshman Marisa Daly (Wallingford, Conn./Mark T. Sheehan) finished first, with a time of 2:16.04, followed by junior Paige McLean (Bolton, Ontario/St. Michael Catholic Secondary) (2:17.08) and freshman Rory O'Dell (Chapel Hill, N.C./Northwood) (2:17.54). Tedjasukmana also claimed third place in the 100-yard Backstroke, with a time of 1:02.42.

O'Dell had two other Top Three finishes on the day. She won the 200-yard Butterfly with a time of 3:13.50. The Chapel Hill, N.C. native also placed third in the 200-yard Backstroke, with a pace of 2:14.53.

The senior, Rogers, earned a win in the 100-yard Breaststroke for the Red Flash, leading the field with a time of 1:05.99. Kish took second place in that event, with a pace of 1:08.57. Kish also finished first in the 200-yard Breaststroke, with a time of 2:28.31.

The Red Flash finish the regular season on Saturday, January 30 as it hosts Youngstown State on Senior Day at 1 p.m. Saint Francis will honor seniors Dieterich and Rogers before the meet.
