As the calendar turns to 2016 it becomes an Olympic Year and two of this week's TeamUnify / CollegeSwimming.com National Swimmers-of-the-Week have their eyes on Rio. Georgia's Hali Flickinger Texas' Jack Conger led the national selections. Flickinger was a perfect six for six in leading the #2 Bulldogs to wins over #4 Texas A&M and #8 Texas. Conger captured three individual events and added a relay win in the top-ranked Longhorns victories over #3 Georgia and #7 Auburn. The awards are for performances December 28-January 10.
In Division II, UC-San Diego's Colleen Daley and Michael Cohn at led the 6th ranked Triton men and 4th ranked women in a pair of home quad meets. Mark Hallman's four individual and two relay victories gave Pomona-Pitzer wins over WPI, Chapman, and Whitman. Mary Van Leuven of third-ranked Denison got a pair of wins over #12 DePauw and added a second and third place finish against Ohio University (#16 Mid-Major) to lead all Division III women.
Andrea Vega and Daniil Kuzmin swept NAIA honors for Olivet Nazarene while Craig Emslie conferences:Tayla Lovemore of Indian River were named TeamUnify / CollegeSwimming.com NJCAA Swimmers-of-the-Week.
