Utah Wins at Oregon State

Utah swimming won nine events on Wednesday as it captured a 143-116 win at Oregon State in the first Pacific-12 Conference meet of 2016.

Genevieve Robertson won a pair of events for the Utes, capturing the 100 (1:04.44) and 200 breast (2:17.68) at the Osborn Aquatic Center. Robertson was also part of the winning 200 medley relay team that featured Shayla Archer, Jenna Marsh and Darby Wayner.

Marsh and Wayner also won individual events this evening. Marsh captured the 100 fly in 57.28 and also placed second in the 50 free with a time of 24.42. Wayner was victorious in the 50 free with a time of 24.34 and placed third in the 100 free (53.93). Archer also competed in a pair of individual events, going second in the 100 back (59.81) and fifth in the 200 back (2:14.57)

Four other Utes also claimed top times in their specific events. Isabella Kearns won the 200 fly (2:05.30) and narrowly missed out in the 1000 free with a time of 10:38.50. Gillian St. John won the 100 free in 52.14 and then placed third in the 200 free with a time of 1:55.58.

Brianna Francis was the only Ute competitor to place in three individual events, winning the 200 IM in 2:05.02, finishing as the runner-up in the 200 breast (2:19.76) and placing third in the 100 breast (1:05.43).

Hailey Pabst captured the 200 back in 2:07.94 and also finished fourth in the 100 back with a time of 1:00.71. Meanwhile, Jordan Anderson notched a pair of second-place finishes in the 200 (1:53.70) and 500 free (5:01.85).

In addition to those performances, six Utes earned multiple top-five finishes on the evening; Maudee Miner (100 and 500 free), Paolina Carnevale (1000 free and 200 fly), Maryssa McArthur (200 and 500 free), Jenna Griffith (100 and 200 back), Petra Soininen (100 and 200 fly) and Rhianna Williams (50 and 100 free).

The Utes are back in action next Friday and Saturday when they welcome Boise State and UCLA to Salt Lake City.
