Caeleb Dressel did a lot of things last week. He led the University of Florida to an SEC title, got head coach Gregg Troy to shave his moustache and posted the highest-ranked swim of the 2015-16 season. With 1040 points, the Gator sophomore's 18.23 in the 50 Freestyle broke the American and US Open record, along with the CollegeSwimming points scale and earned him TeamUnify / CollegeSwimming National Swimmers-of-the-Week for the second time this season. .Louisville's Kelsi Worrell added the women's honor to her ACC MVP performance last weekend. She just edged out Indiana's Lily King for the award.
A year ago Theresa Michalak won the SEC title in the 200 IM, but this year her talents, including a NSISC record in the 100 IM earned the West Florida sophomore TeamUnify / CollegeSwimming Division II Swimmer-of-the-Week honors. West Chester's Victor Polyakov earned the men's nod for his performance at the PSAC Championships and appears back in the form that took him to four NCAA titles in 2014.
Another transfer, Samantha Senczyszyn of UW-Eau Claire and Buffalo State's Connor Mergler were named TeamUnify / CollegeSwimming Division III Swimmers-of-the-Week for their performances at the WIAC and SUNYAC Championships. Mergler captured three individual titles, winning the 50, 100 and 200 free, setting school records in all three events. He also set conference records in the 50 and 100. Senczyszyn, meanwhile shattered the NCAA Division III record in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:12.20.
Fifty-three swimmers were also selected as TeamUnify / CollegeSwimming Conference Swimmers-of-the-Week. Swimmers were selected in the following conferences:
