Lindenwood, Cal Baptist Continue to Lead RMAC Meet

The top teams in the men's and women's sides of the 2016 RMAC Swimming and Diving Championships remained the same after the second day of action wrapped up on Thursday at the El Pomar Natatorium.

California Baptist continues to lead the women's side with 482 points, while Lindenwood lead the men with 492 points.

Lindenwood's women have cut into the CBU advantage, ranking second with 457.5 points, while Colorado Mesa sits third with 305.5 points. Western State sits fourth with 213 points, while Colorado Mines rounds out the top five with 178 points.

For the men, CBU sits in second with 438. Colorado Mesa is just 10 points behind the Lions in third with 428 points. Colorado Mines (225 points) and Adams State (59) round out the top five.

There were 11 events completed on Thursday, with Lindenwood winning five. CBU collected four more RMAC titles on the night, while Colorado Mesa and Western State each picked up one.

The night opened with Lindenwood picking up the win in the women's 200 free relay, posing a time of 1:33.99. CBU (1:35.99) and Western State (1:36.12) picked up second and third-place finishes, respectively.

Lindenwood continued the good start with another win in the men's 200 free relay, turning in a time of 1:21.43. CBU finished in a close second, posting a time of 1:21.78, while Colorado Mines notched a third-place finish with a time of 1:24.49.

The third event of the night was also won by Lindenwood, as Alecia McGillivray won the women's 400 IM with a time of 4:24.96. CBU's Courtney Chacon finished second with a time of 4:28.33, while teammate Alena Rumiantceva (4:30.98) finished third.

Colorado Mesa's Sam Bryant set his second RMAC record in two nights, winning the men's 400 IM with a time of 3:52.96. He bested Lindenwood's Cristian Vasquez (3:52.32) and CBU's Joshua Hanson (3:57.14).

CBU's Kristina Tchernyschev won the women's 100 fly, posting a time of 55.23 seconds. Colorado Mesa's Eryn Leonard finished second with a time of 55.70, while CBU's Sara Yoshii finished third (57.70).

Lindenwood's Serghei Golban set an RMAC record in the men's 100 fly, posting a time of 47.01 seconds to collect his second RMAC title of the week. Colorado Mesa teammates Sky Hirsch (48.41) and Justin Hastings (48.70) finished second and third, respectively.

Western State's Randi Yarnell picked up her second RMAC title of the week, winning the women's 200 free with a time of 1:50.60. Colorado Mines' Carrie Kralovec notched a second-place finish with a time of 1:52.07, while Colorado Mesa's Mary Saiz (1:52.27) finished third.

CBU's Alexis Ohmar won the men's 200 free with a time of 1:40.67. Colorado Mesa's Josh Bedford (1:41.09) finished second, while Lindenwood's Gustavo Silva Santa (1:41.15) finished third.

Next up was the men's 1-meter diving, which was won by CBU's Zachary Perry. He posted a final score of 458.65, besting Colorado Mesa's Sage D'Ambrosia (455.60) and Colorado Mesa's Ryan Popp (436.80).

CBU won the women's 400 medley relay with a time of 3:46.04. Colorado Mesa (3:47.60) finished second, while Lindenwood (3:49.60) notched a third-place finish.

The night closed much like it opened, with Lindenwood winning another event. This time, the Lions won the men's 400 medley relay with a time of 3:15.21. They bested CBU (3:21.59) and Colorado Mines (3:23.31).

The RMAC Swimming and Diving Championships continue tomorrow (Friday) at the El Pomar Natatorium.
