Loras Sweeps Knox, Swept by Augustana

The Loras swimming and diving teams continued their 2015-16 season on Saturday at the Augustana Triangular against the hosts, Augustana, and Knox. The men and the women suffered losses to Augustana but secured wins against Knox.

Sophomore Kim Breaux posted a season-best time in the 200 free, taking second with a time of 2:07.73. The Port Byron native followed up her performance in the 200 free with another season-best in the 50 free, posting a second-place finish in the 100 fly with a time of 1:03.48.

Senior Elise Amo continued her consistent performance in the 500 free with another 5:48 mark, earning second place in a field of eight. Freshman Kasey Jacobson claimed a win in the 100 back with a time of 1:05.15.

In the triangular breakdown, Loras fell to Augustana, 126-92, but scored a win over Knox, 130-74.

Senior John Maevski posted his first 300-plus score of the year in the 3m dive, clearing 312.25. Maevski's mark was just 12 points off from the Loras school record of 324.25, set by Maevski in 2014.

Senior Zach Benson added another win to his name in the 100 fly with his time of 55.33, edging Augustana's David Sommers by .31.

Loras will have another stacked weekend coming up, heading to the University of Northern Iowa Quadrangular on Friday, Nov. 6 and the IIT Triangular on Saturday, Nov. 7.
