Gannon Men
The Gannon men's swim team was swept by Clarion (164-129), NCAA Division III Case Western Reserve (194-98) and host Carnegie Mellon (229-68), Saturday afternoon in Pittsburgh, Pa. Gannon tallied 14 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying times.
The Golden Knights had 14 swimmers with PSAC qualifying times.
Allan Collins (East Amherst, N.Y./Canisius) finished second in the 100-yard freestyle with a conference qualifying time of .48.92. Followed by Matt Loughner (Jeannette, Pa. / Penn-Trafford) who finished eighth with a PSAC time of .50.18.
Nils Groeppler (Bergkamen, Germany/Willy Brandt) took home another second place finish in the 100-yard butterfly shaving 20 milliseconds off his time at Cleveland State, for a time of 51.24 and PSAC qualifying time.
Collins earned his second PSAC time of the meet in the 200-yard freestyle with a fifth place finish (1:48.38).
Jonathan Garich (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) earned his first conference qualifying time in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:02.46 and a fifth place finish respectively.
Nils, Cole Davis (Millersburg, Pa./Millersburg) and Noah Donovan (Ellwood City, Pa./Laurel) each earned PSAC qualifying times in the 200-yard butterfly.
Gannon remains on the road, as they travel to Shippensburg, Pa.The meet is slated to start at 6 p.m.
Gannon Women
The Gannon women's swim team was swept by Clarion (146-143), NCAA Division III Case Western Reserve (175-118) and host Carnegie Mellon (204-89), Saturday afternoon in Pittsburgh, Pa. Three Gannon swimmers took home individual first place finishes, along with a relay first place finish.
Freshman Courteney Hubert (North Huntington, Pa./Irwin) took home first place honors in the 200-yard freestyle with a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying time of 1:59.13.
Senior Emily Nottingham (Titusville, Pa./Titusville) followed with her second PSAC qualifying time and first place finish of the season in the 50-yard freesytle with a time of .24.51. Following that she took home second place in the 100-yard freestyle to Lydic with a PSAC qualifying time of 54.31.
Senior Morgan Lydic (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio/Cuyahoga Falls) shaved time off her 100-yard freestyle swim, with a first place finish and PSAC time of 53.59. Prior to that she took second place to teammate Nottingham in the 50-yard freestyle with a PSAC time of 24.75.
Madeline Summers (Lake Stevens, Was./Lake Stevens) finished third in the 200-yard freestyle with a PSAC qualifying time of 2:01.91
The squad of Nottingham, Lydic, Hubert, and Summers took home first place in the 200-yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 1:39.57.
Meghan Terwilliger (Grove City, Pa./ Grove City Area) and Summers went four and five in the 200-yard Butterfly with PSAC times of 2:18.23 and 2:18.53, respectively.
