Frostburg State Women Defeats Franciscan; Swept by Mary Washington

The Frostburg State women's swim team spilt with Mary Washington and Franciscan, while the Frostburg State men's swim team dropped its contest against Mary Washington. Friday evening.

The Bobcat women first defeated Franciscan 95-24 before falling to conference rival Mary Washington 99-23.

The FSU men's swim team posted a lot of close races and season-best times before falling to Mary Washington, 98-24.

Freshman Maddie Weinberger led the Bobcat women, winning two of her events and taking third in two others.
Weinberger posted first place finishes in both the 50-meter breaststroke (35.62) and the 100-meter breaststroke (1:17.69) and third place finishes in the 100-meter IM (1:13.69) and the 200-meter medley relay (2:13.62).

Bobcat sophomore Macey Nitchie posted one second place finish and three third place finishes. Nitchie took second in the 200-meter freestyle (2:13.50), falling to Emily Adams from Mary Washington by only four tenths of a second.  In another close decision, Nitchie took third in the 50-meter free (28.19) and the 100-meter free (1:02.19). She also swam the freestyle leg of the Bobcat women's 200-medley relay.

Junior Sydney Fazenbaker also contributed four third place finishes for the Bobcats. She swam the breaststroke leg on the 200-meter medley relay, the 50-meter breaststroke (40.01), the 800-meter free (11:24.79) and the 400-meter free (5:29.34)

On the men's side sophomore Christian March had some outstanding swims to come up with two individual wins against very tough competition. March out-touched his competition in the 50-meter breaststroke to take the win in 30.03 seconds. He then came back to win the 100-meter breaststroke in 1:05.79.

The men's 200-meter medley relay of sophomore James Williams, March, freshman Sidney Horton and sophomore Deionn Yarberough took second place for the Bobcats in 1:55.98.

Horton went on to place second in the 200-meter freestyle (2:08.60) and the 50-meter freestyle (25.80).

The Bobcats return to the pool Saturday, October 31 when they travel to Washington & Jefferson for a tri-meet set to start at 1:00 pm.
