UMass Splits with Boston U.

Oliver Wyeth set a new Joseph R. Rogers pool and a program dual meet record as he helped lead the UMass men's swimming and diving squad to a 176-122 win over Boston University on Saturday afternoon. In women's action, the Minutewomen received several strong performances, but the Terriers won the meet 166-129.
The Minutemen improve to 1-1 in dual meets this season, while the women's squad falls to 0-2.

On the men's side, UMass took first place in 10 events paced by Wyeth who had three wins individually and another in the 200 medley relay. Owen Wright added another three event wins including a dual meet record time of 20.69 seconds in the 50 free which stands as the ninth fastest in program history.

Wyeth's pool and dual meet record of 49.42 seconds in the 100 back was his first win of the meet. He also took first in the 200 back (1:49.14), the 500 free (4:38.28), and swam the lead leg of the 200 medley relay.

In addition to his win the 50 free, Wright added wins in the 200 free (1:41.60), the 100 free (45.70), and swam the lead leg in the 200 free relay.

UMass had a top-three sweep in the 50 free with Wictor Karpinski taking second (21.38) and Brian Stiles placing third (21.50). Stiles also added a second-place finish in the 100 free (46.87) just behind Wright.

On the boards, Trent Kindvall took first in the 1-meter and 3-meter dives, while Nolan Burns placed second in both events.

For the Minutewomen, Emma Roush posted a pair of first-place finishes on the boards sweeping the 1-meter and 3-meter dives. Katie Polk took second in the 1-meter dive, while Julia Jagannath placed third in the 1-meter dive and second in the 3-meter dive. 

Rebecca Quirie and Jocelyn Yuen placed second in a pair of events. Quirie was runner-up in both the 100 back (58.98 seconds) and the 200 back (2:09.62). Yuen took silver in the 100 fly (58.82) and the 200 fly (2:08.31).

Ansley Baker posted a second-place finish in the 100 breast (1:08.07), while Steph Campo placed second in the 500 free (5:12.63).

Jenna Diamond and Cassie Sosnovich added third-place finishes in the 200 back (2:11.69) and the 100 fly (59.12 seconds), respectively.
