Frostburg State Sweeps Stevenson, Swept by Goucher; Women Top Hood

The Frostburg State men's and women's swim teams split against Hood, Stevenson and Goucher, Saturday afternoon.

The Frostburg State men defeated Stevenson, 149-38 before falling to Hood, 126-76 and Goucher, 115-87.

The Bobcat women won against Stevenson, 112-87 and Hood, 104-96 before dropping to Goucher, 114-89.

The FSU women won three individual events, including two by sophomore Macey Nitchie.

 Nitchie kicked off the day by winning the 200-yard freestyle in 2:00.50, a full six seconds faster than the next competitor. She then went on to win the 50-yard freestyle (25.36) and placed second in the 500-yard freestyle (5:33.42).

Freshman Maddie Weinberger also had a win for the Bobcats in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:09.73. Weinberger placed third in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:22.56.

Freshman Emily Turner took three third-place finishes for the Bobcats. She finished third in the 1000-yard freestyle (12:03.08), the 100-yard butterfly (1:08.62) and the 100-yard backstroke (1:06.58).

The men were paced by sophomore Christian March who had the Bobcat's two first-place finishes on the day. He took the top spot in the 50-yard freestyle (22.29) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.05). March also finished third in the 100-yard butterfly (57.05).

Freshman Sidney Horton also contributed as a top-point scorer for the Bobcats, he took second in the 100-yard freestyle (50.44), fourth in the 200-yard IM (2:11.01) and fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:04.66).

The Bobcats took a 3-4 finish in the 100-yard backstroke; with sophomore Deionn Yarberough finishing third (59.86) followed by sophomore Christian Blocker (1:00.75).

The FSU men's and women's swimming teams return to the pool Friday, October 30 when they host Mary Washington at 6:00 pm.
