Oberlin Women Sweep Allegheny, Malone; Men Swept

The Oberlin College swimming and diving teams were in action on Saturday afternoon, competing in a double-dual meet at Allegheny College against the Gators and NCAA Division II member Malone College.
 
The Oberlin women defeated Allegheny 160-134 and topped Malone 178-109. The Yeomen were on the wrong end of a 185-87 score against the Gators and also fell 165-97 to Malone.
 
The Yeowomen's winning ways started right out of the gate in the 200-yard medley relay. The foursome of Lauren Wong, Deirdre Haren, Jill Sarazen and Elsa Mark-Ng out-touched their Allegheny foes by three one hundredths of a second at 1:56.47.
 
The meet rolled on with the Yeowomen earning 1-2-3 finish in the 200-yard free. Samma Regan took the top spot in 1:58.05, while Maddie Prangley and Nora Cooper followed in 2:01.09 and 2:01.16, respectively. Cooper later returned to add a second-place showing in the 100-yard free in 55.86.
 
Cooper continued to impress, winning the 500-yard free in 5:24.44. Prangley was slightly back of her to finish second in 5:24.62.
 
Oriene Shiel added a second-place swim in the 200-yard IM (2:18.38). Sarazen was second in the 100-yard fly (1:02.70), while Regan was also edged out in the 200-yard breast to finish second in 2:35.90.
 
The Yeowomen ended the meet the same way they started it – winning. Kathleen Falk, Sarazen, Regan and Cooper claimed victory in the 400-yard free relay in 3:43.61.
 
On the men's side, freshman David Bright won the 100-yard breast in 1:01.29. Benjamin Miyamoto also claimed victory on both boards, taking the 1-meter with 2:12.40 points before posting a score of 221.10 in the 3-meter event.
 
In the 1,000-yard free Jeremy Cooper completed the journey in 10:42 to place second overall.
 
Bright later returned to place third in the 200-yard breast in 2:25.28. In the 200-yard free Adam Winikoff was third with a timestamp of 1:52.34.
 
The Oberlin swimming and diving teams will complete the 2015 portion of their schedule the first weekend in December at the Fredonia Invitational.
