Gannon Swept by Case Western; Beat, Tie Grove City

Gannon Men

The Gannon men's swim team split at the Case Western Reserve Tri-Meet on Saturday afternoon, falling to host Case Western 162-118, and defeating Grove City 191-97. 23 Gannon swimmers swam to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying times.

The Golden Knights had a season-high 22 swimmers with PSAC qualifying times at the Case Western Reserve Tri-Meet.

Denys Fedorchenko took home the Golden Knights first, first place finish in the 1000-yard freestyle with a PSAC time of 9:46.99, also qualifying for the PSAC was Mike Lawrence with a time of 10:20.06 and taking home fifth place.

Ryan Carter and Matt Loughner took fourth and fifth place in the 200-yard freestyle with conference times of 1:48.12 and 1:49.77, respectively.

The Golden Knights took second, third and fourth place in the 100-yard backstroke with conference qualifying times of .54.61 from Dionisio Carey, .54.97 from Allan Collins and Trevor Durnwald with a time of .56.05.

Cole Davis swam a conference qualifying time of 1:59.75 in the 200-yard butterfly and took home a third place finish, followed by Noah Donovan who took home fifth with a PSAC time of 2:02.38.

Collins finished third in the 50-yard freestyle (.22.41), followed by Nils Groeppler who took home fifth place (.22.61).

The Golden Knights took first, second and sixth place in the 100-yard freestyle, Michael Weiser (.48.52), Collins (.48.88) and Ryan Carter (.50.27).

Fedorchenko claimed his second first place finish in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:56.17, followed by Maciej Skrzypczak (2:03.41) and Carey (2:06.16) all conference qualifying times.

Lawrence claimed second in the 200-yard breaststroke with a conference time of 2:18.30.

Groeppler, Weiser and Loughner swam PSAC qualifying times in the 100-yard butterfly.

Fedorchenko claimed his final first place finish in the 200-yard IM with a PSAC qualifying time of 1:55.04.

The Golden Knights took first in the 200-yard freestyle relay led by Weiser, Groeppler, Collins, and Loughner with a time of 1:27.78.

Gannon returns to the pool on December 3, when they complete in the three-day Wooster Invitational at Wooster College.

 

Gannon Women

The Gannon women's swim team fell to host Case Western Reserve, 177-112, and tied with Grove City College 136-136 in the Case Western Reserve Tri-Meet. 10 Gannon swimmers swam to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying times.

Courteney Hubert got the ball rolling for Gannon, claiming a second place finish and PSAC conference qualifying time in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:00.20.

Ruby Rodriguez followed that with a conference qualifying time and second place finish in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:01.18.

Tessa Hayman called the Lady Knight's first place finish of the meet, with a PSAC time of 1:10.72, she followed that up with another first place finish in the 200-yard IM with a PSAC time of 2:17.66.

Teammate, Meghan Terwilliger took home third place and a conference time of 2:18.25 in the 200-yard butterfly.

The duo of Emily Nottingham and Hubert took first and third place in the 50-yard freestyle with PSAC times of .24.96 and .25.35 respectively.

Morgan Lydic took first place in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of .53.89, followed by Nottingham who took third in the even with a time of .55.05, both good enough for the PSAC qualifying times.

Abby Wu, claimed second in the 200-yard backstroke with a PSAC time of 2:15.81.

The squad featuring Madeline Summers, Hubert, Nottingham, and Lydic took first in the 200-yard Freestyle relay with a time of 1:39.43.

Gannon returns to the pool on December 3, when they complete in the three-day Wooster Invitational at Wooster College.
